1) License Plate Cost
-One time fee of $25.00 to American Military Family, Inc. (AMF)
-Specialty plate license fees and taxes (annually) as assessed by your county DMV
2) What am I purchasing?
You are purchasing an Authorization Certificate for the "Colorado Support The Troops" specialty license plate. A guarantee of at least 93% of the $25.00 donation you make to American Military Family will be returned to the Colorado military and their families (Active Duty, Guard, Reserves, Veterans).Upon receiving your $25.00 donation, American Military Family will send you a Authorization Certificate that you will take to your county Department of Motor Vehicles. Once you have paid your standard license plate fees and taxes, and redeemed your AMF certificate, the Department of Motor Vehicles will issue your specialty plates to you.
3) Is the fee tax deductible?
The $25.00 donation to AMF is a one-time donation. This fee is tax deductible. There is no obligation beyond the initial donation; however, donations are ALWAYS welcome and appreciated.
4) How do I Purchase a "Colorado Support the Troops" License Plate?
You can order your license plate voucher on our web site, or complete our license plate order form (PDF) and mail it to American Military Family. (NOTE: A $25.00 fee is required for each specialty plate purchased. Please complete one form for each vehicle on which you wish to purchase and apply a specialty plate).
5) Donate a Certificate.
AMF is offering a campaign for anyone who would like to purchase a specialty plate for a member of the Colorado military.AMF will GUARANTEE that the $25.00 certificate will be presented to a military member. OR, please consider purchasing a gift for a friend, neighbor or someone you know who is currently serving in the Colorado military. The certificate must be issued with the registered owners name and is not transferable.
6) SB06-080
SB06-080 was passed during the 2006 legislative session and signed by Governor Owens, authorizing the sale of the Colorado Support the Troops license plates for cars, trucks and motorcycles. Donations made to AMF for these specialty plates will benefit active duty, guard, reserve and veteran members of the military and their families.
7) ***How long does the process take for me to obtain my certificate?.
